This Baja House logo was one of my favorite projects because it challenged me in ways I hadn't experienced before. The client wanted a Mexican candy skull with a fishing fly in its mouth that would work for t-shirts, stickers, and other lodge merchandise.

I was hesitant at first because I didn't feel like I knew enough about candy skulls to jump right in. I wanted to make sure I was approaching it respectfully and authentically. So I did a lot of research on the history and meaning behind candy skulls, and then stayed in close contact with my clients throughout the whole process, getting their feedback at every step, and they ended up feeling really good about the result.

Baja House also asked me to illustrate a rooster fish, which was originally just going to be printed on the front of t-shirts. This required a lot of research because I wanted to capture the anatomy and colors of the fish accurately. Baja House ended up liking the illustration so much that they made it into stickers and now have it posted all around the lodge on various merchandise.

Any pixelation visible in the photo is a result of the image quality; the design was printed on the shirt clearly.
